The Double Lie is based on a real life drama, and Shaffer brings all the tension and turmoil to life in his fictionalized account. The sociopath villain is heartless and cruel, stopping at nothing to get what he wants. He victimizes his mother, girlfriend, daughter, son, friends, and any one who gets in his way. Harry Caine is hired by his mother to find evidence that will free him and does his best, following his code of appropropriate behaviour, even though he believes his client is guilty. The plot thickens and moves quickly to a suspenseful climax. As much as I enjoyed the story line, I loved even more the way Shaffer presents his main characters, Harry and his assisant, Mona. Their interchange is priceless, witty, and charged with energy, providing the perfect foil to the the grisly events that unfold. You'll love this exciting tale. It has everything.Product details
